How Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Service Saved My Life

In September 2006, I was in a very serious accident. I had broken every bone on the left side of my body, as well as severe internal injuries. I ended up spending several months in the hospital.

When I was released from the hospital, I was still in a wheelchair, still unable to put pressure on my legs. I also needed another surgery on my arm. Although I was still in need of medical care, I was ready to go home. I had a visiting nurse come in daily to check on me and give me my medication. I was also told to see my doctor at least twice a month and I needed transportation service. As a result of my inability to apply pressure to my legs, it became difficult for family members to safely get me into a car for my appointments.

Luckily for me, my visiting nurse found me a non-emergency medical transportation company called Comp-X Medical Management Services to take me back and forth from my appointments. I was transported in an ambulance-like vehicle, with someone onboard to get me to my appointments safely, and them home again. This was not an ambulance; it was simply a safe medical transportation alternative, which helped me get to the hospital. If Comp-X Medical Management Services was not available, I would have had to spend an extra six months in the hospital.

Getting the transportation was simple. All I had to do was call the company when my appointment was scheduled, and they would come and get me at home. Having a service like this also took the pressure off my family. They knew I had a safe transportation to and from my appointment. What was even better was the quality of the service. They waited for me regardless of how long the appointment was. One thing that I could never predict was whether my appointment was going to be cut short or if it would go long. Either way, I knew that my transportation would be waiting for me.

I will always be thankful that I had the option of having non-emergency medical transportation service. It is because of Comp-X Medical Management Services, that I got to go home to my family a half of a year sooner. On top of that, I know full well that injuries like the one I have can put a strain on family relationships, especially the burden of constant travel to get care. Since I was able to take care of myself, everyone was able to continue living their lives.
